I Following a desire to live more intentional by fulfilling my dreams. I wanna make more sustainable and intentional choices. And after all, i wanna challenge my self to open myself up to new experiences and opportunities. To Enjoy life to it’s fullest. To see something from the world. To remove myself from a wasteful consumption. To creat a more meaningfull connection with people
I realized that I don’t wanna settle down and sit in one place. I wanna have Every day a new horizon. I wanna see something from the world i’m living in.
I still going to live a long time, and it would be a shame if i did not take the opportunity to revolutionize my life and move into an entirely new, day by day. I get bored quickly when the daily grind grips me.
To start , i wanna make a real radical change in my travel lifestyle and began to boldly do things which i may previously never have thought of doing, or been too i think when you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life
But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty. Sitant to attempt of experience.
My 48th birthday brought a little bit of introspection and I tried for some time ( read almost a year) to decide what I would do before my 50th birthday next year. It has to be something different. Normally i travel by car ore plain. Yes i go very often for A bike-trip but never longer than a couple of days. I quickly decided to make a long bike packing trip combined with my preference for (wild) camping. And that gives me an excuse to really get my geek when putting together a bike that can carry me and my gear.
I hadn’t really considered cycling. With a good friend i talked allot about my plans. However, I had always in my mind taken a long trip on foot. The fascination for bike packing came later when the same friend told me about her bike packing trip through southern Europe with her dog. She is travelling At this moment through Canada with her boyfriend and dog by bike by the way. While fascinated by their travel stories I had to look for a bike and stuff for my first ever long distance Bikepacking trip.
And everyone who knows me a bit, this is a project in itself. I always looking for good used Stuff. So also the bike should be a good secondhand one.
Yes, I tend to think more romantically about most things. Thats me you know;)
From Surly, Salsa, Bontrager. From Kona to Santos, from Canyon to Specialized. I out sourced the world over the net but no way to buy a second-hand bicycle in my size.
That was how I approached the Trek 920 Disc. It caught my eye because it was different. Not a road touring bike, not a cyclocross bike, and not a mountain bike – something different. Something in between , something new. A Real Adventure bike, it’s like a Land Rover Defender to me. I can take any road. Others go fast, i can go anywhere.
It took a few days until I decided to make the decision to adjust my budget which I wanted to spend before purchasing a bicycle, my time was running against me. So i had to make a choice.
In the meantime, I was able to complete the list of necessities. This is called how i would say; searching together.
Now a few days before departure, I have the Spirit to say ; I cannot use what is not packed. less ballast, less worry.
